lovely afternoon sewing...

Had my fresh air, came home and got the soup on :-P
Heating turned to constant and cosy. Laptop set up to watch Katherine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi in SummerTime .
Machine switched on and off I went. No work tonight so hopefully the binding will go on and my christmas quilt will soon be on the bed...
Someone made herself comfortable fairly quickly...

Mr Snowjangles...

Well, it took us a few days to catch up with the rest of the country but it came...
and we've had a visitor...
and much as we've asked him to move along he is quite a fixture it seems...
and we have explained the no smoking policy but he seems to be a bit of a rebel..

Nearly December... ALREADY!!

Well I am sure it's not that long ago since our holidays in the sun but it seems I have been doing a Rip Van Winkle... it's December next week!! What? It also seems that a week turns into two, three and before you know it it as been a too long gap for me to leave this. I told myself I would be efficient in this blog thing and up to now I have. Tsk tsk..
Well I should really take a pic of the new advent count down I finally (after two years got together) - remember the clearing out post I meant it. I have some lovely things stuffed here, stacked away there. I must try and use them up, and the Nancy Halvorsen advent stand is just too nice to leave in a bag so pic to come.
Last week, No1 D made some cake...
It was Children in Need night and it's times like that I am glad of our SkyBox. I am not a big fan of the local lady who does the Scottish event so I can tune in to Sir Tel in London, and that's a relief. It's the same at New Year. I certainly enjoy the traditional music but I can't do the presenter. And we had lovely cake :-D
Today I made the second batch of mince pies. I made my own mincemeat this year and was a wee bit disappointed with the first batch but I filled the second lot up with extra brandy and sugar and they are good!
So I can feel a sit down and a cuppa coming on...

Halloween on it's way.

There's something about Mondays I love... I think it's the simple pleasure of a quiet house, putting a little order back. Maybe sitting doing some "selfish" sewing, by that I mean something I want to sew for me, not anyone else. Maybe after lunch hand sewing in front of the telly DURING THE DAY!! Imagine!
A lovely clean bathroom - that remains undisturbed for 7hours!
Well today is a particularly good monday. It is a beautiful autumnal day, fresh, sunny and bright reds and oranges everywhere.
The Halloween dec's have been up and are now back in their box after a really lovely weekend. For once the kids went out when there wasn't a gale blowing or pouring with rain.
Earlier on in the day my nephew had a go on my sewing machine and this is what we made together. He was very drawn to the foot pedal and the "machine" aspect, but he was also very conscientious in his making and enjoyed making these pumpkins.
We cut a rectangle of felt, folded to find the centre cross. Bonda-webbed a face to the centre area. Sewed up the short sides to make a tube. Gathered in the top and bottom with stuffing inside.  Cut a kind of leafy green felt top. Then rolled up a rectangle of green felt for the stalk. FAB! Something for him to keep forever x

Our dear and lovely Miss H, who has the sweetest nature and gentle, she squeezes into cuddles when she knows someone is upset, also managed to dress up a little - much to the amusement of our trick or treaters...
SHe managed to treat herself to some toffee!! Which was accidently dropped whilst munching...
Lots of sweets, toffee apples - I didn't make as many this year so some later visitors missed out which was a shame, but that's the way it is :-(
Then Miss H did a Diana Ross impersonation... maybe that'll be her next year!
