Fin

Well considering it took me a day practically, in amongst the usual business of the day, to cut, piece, quilt, bindings on but not completed. Then a second day/evening in truth to create the cushion part. I really should have had this done by saturday evening. However, I find I have a psychological problem with my "sewing week". I am incredibly productive until friday evening, then it all seems to fall away and is taken over by other things. Maybe a glass of wine... thoughts of the weekend... then all of a sudden it's monday, and house-y things take over. Anyway, it's finished and to be handed to the birthday boy this week as we will miss the actual day.

We found ourselves without childers on saturday so went to the cinema in the middle of the day. What a crime! We went to the www.gft.org.uk/content/ to see Woody Allen's new film, which was enjoyable. Although he fell asleep half way through for a spell and I dozed of near the end! We didn't not enjoy the film, whatever that says. I stayed awake long enough to eat my sweeties.

Then the bold, adventuring D returned with tales of canoeing, kayaking down french rivers, sailing in the med. Jumping off high things tied just with a rope... don't tell me!! She had a ball, and the mosiquitoes seemed to enjoy her company.

Nearly there.

Just to attach the cushion at the binding, then it's a sit and watch the telly finishing job. There's been no messing about with this quillow.
And what kept me on track...
...lovely jubbly! And who kept me company in the corner of the room...

This week I have been mainly...

... Quillowing. The boy, (one amongst a bustle of girls) had pointed out that his Auntie had failed to make him a quillow and he wasn't too big on the pink one he was borrowing from sibling. So with his birthday shooting toward me I have been whipping up a cosy snug. I spent yesterday working intently, and I hope to bind it tonight and make the cushion bit.
I found it really hard to pick a pattern and it really wasn't until I was flicking through an older magazine that I stuck on the Irish chain. It is so smart in the navy and red, and a really good quilt to grow with the boy. The starry fleece is for the back and a fab thick snuggly one.
It is also keeping me busy as No1 D is in the south of France on a school trip. Due back at the weekend and so the gap in the house will be filled again. Nearly there.

Moving along..

I spend hours sometimes flicking from blog to blog. I have several favourites which I dip into regularly and then there's the "friends of friends" thing. You go into one that is liked by the one you like.. following... and then one they like.. you do it too I bet.
Anyway, a regular one is The Quilt Room, Dorking in Surrey. They are doing a block of the month Sampler Quilt using a jelly roll. So I am joining in...
