Weekend Away

Just got back from our long weekend away from the pooch. Oh how we missed her, and she us by the licks when we collected her. We were down in yorkshire, York really, but me managed to go on the steam train at Haworth (pic to left here shows Haworth with the church up the hill, can you spot the Bronte Parsonage?) ... up and down the line a few times, trying to spot where bobby waved her red knickers (scenes from the Railway Children were filmed there).

We stopped for coffee in Haworth and ended up painting pottery for the afternoon. That was fun, as it's something the kids do, and i haven't really. The "objects d'art" are to be posted next week. So that will be a treat. We also managed to get to Hebden Bridge, which is a lovely place. It has a great sweetie shop, so we can do the - if we do this then we can do the sweetie shop... blackmail bit. It works, and their old mum likes the Soor Plooms.

So we managed to find a Loch Fyne Oyster bar in York and booked ourselves in but No.2 D wasn't too well (oink cough oink) so we alas had to cancel. We did squeeze in an afternoon tea in Betty's both in York AND Harrogate. NOT in the same day. But put this way, you eat a good breakfast in a hotel, in theory you don't need the luncheon, afternoon cakes and evening meal - but you do! And we did. Lovely.
Then we topped it off with a visit to Beamish, which sold enormous cream scones, well... we did share one.
