How quickly is the time passing???

I can't believe how fast the days have gone in. This weekend the clocks change and we are into SPRING!! It has been so lovely the last few days, in fact I have been out WITHOUT  a coat. Indeed, coatLESS and NO scarf.
Today I walked up for no2 D at home time with a bit of sweat on to be frank. In actual fact there lies a story, with me in the end having to shower, I was so warm - trying to locate one lost child - not a happy mother.
Anyway, dramatic scenario discussed and logged so let's not dwell...
...so hanging around our bathroom is a lady awaiting a swim...
It's a  Tilda pattern  from one of my many books. I just love her ideas and when I'm in the mood I can rustle something up quite quickly. One of these days I might hang the new blind which was purchased 3 years ago and is propped up in the corner of the dining room :-/

... and today I finished this...

It's a birthday cake for my Auntie's mpther-in-law, a special birthday. She has got a great love for Jo Malone , so that was the theme. Party this weekend.

...and I finally gave in to one of these...
so the bold girl is sporting a red nose. The question is how long does it stay on for. I think she quite suits it and I don't want to remove it on saturday... maybe a month?

...and it's lunchtime...

I am one happy stitcher :-D Thing about returning from the Guild days is a car load of stuff returns with me. Why doesn't it seem to take any time or effort to pile it up and ship it out BUT the return load seems ENORMOUS!!!
SO... with a determined air and a few hours this morning I did the deed and tidied the sewing room. By tidying I mean, sweeping UNDER, yes UNDERneath tables, units, moved chairs, and actual proper tidy. I have a floor!!
It is a good feeling.  ( The rest of the house is a different story   :-/   )

Busy Crafting Week

Sometimes days run one into the other with no breathing space between them. Well that's how it can feel. I work three evenings per week, Mr H has one evening off a week - he is off one of the days I am not off, which helps juggle our children - who are very patient and have sadly got quite used to there basically being a parent missing most evenings. It's quite something if the four of us eat together, as quite often the one day of the week we could all be together, a saturday, the girls have something. I'm not moaning about it, it's the way it is and is accepted - most of the time :-/
Last week, we had music to do, we had homework, we had an extra with...
design an Easter egg competition with No2 D. Papier mache takes days to work on, build it, let it dry, build it more, let it dry, build it, etc... So the usual, but I had my Guild Regional Day with the young quilters in Perth. SO there is a fair bit of organising and bringing things together.
Then on Saturday, No2 D and I got up at 7 to leave and it was horrendous blizzards. SO what do you do? Well we got the stuff in the car, wrapped up and set off. Three times the car decided to swing one way when I was turning the steering wheel the other, and we hadn't even left our area!!!
We trundled along the motorway, taking two hours for an hours journey. AND STILL lorries over took us - what's that about!!! Every time a lorry passed us we were engulfed in a cloudy, slushy, snowy blanket for what seemed like ages until our extra fast wiper blades cleared a space to see out. It wasn't much fun.
Well anyway, it went very well, and we were only down three children meant to be attending due to weather. I alas didn't take many snaps as I forgot to take my camera... but I did take a few pics with my phone.
Easter chicks using stitch and flip fabrics. We made ruffles for the tail feathers and the children pinched the faces for setting in the beaks. They got on brilliantly and, a little like childbirth you immediately forget the stress and worry as soon as the work and giggling starts. Why is that? Anyway it was a fun filled day of adventure and this week will be a little less stressful.
AND... No2 D came joint winner of the comp with her Spring hanging. She was very pleased.

Here's the thing though... last week I was tempted, due my total lack of time, to tidy out my sewing room, make two pairs of curtains awaiting construction, and clear the garden. THIS WEEK COMING, when I have spaces in the days.... it doesn't interest me in the slightest!!! What's that about???

I'm just loving tulips...

... and I wished that I got my act together and planted them out last autumn so that they were starting top "spring" up now. There are a few but they need digging up and a warm cuddle and some sweet talking because they have faded in the years since their planting.
They were a gift a few years ago, 7 which I find amazing. I broke my shoulder and instead of a bunch of flowers, my quilting friends gave me bulbs which was the best idea. That way they never die but some of them have given up. Bit like my skateboarding (hence the broken shoulder), and yes I was old enough to know better - with the passing of time I can look back at the hilarious moments. Like my mother driving me to hospital because I refused an ambulance but she hit every pothole in the road... OR my eldest, 6 at the time, phoning her father (who was at work) by accident instead of her grandma, for help, and just before putting the phone down on him said "can't talk to you, mum's fallen off the skateboard and broken her arm"
Anyway, there is something about tulips that I love, They are all beautiful in colour and shape!

...and more Civil war...

I quite like the fact that I am NOT churning these out as soon as they are posted but instead, when in the mood I am putting them together. Seems to be in groups of three... but this in only 9 from the 52 due... so let's be patient here and bide our time. (I could end up with 20 to do :-/)
Just to say - in my browsing, I found that The Quilt Room have included my Jelly Roll BOM on their blog, now there's a warm feeling.
