Really should be something more interesting...

So sad, this is the only photo taken on the london day trip. The Egyptian lift in Harrods... touristy or what..
and so then the small d and I created a tasty lunch. I bought a new chopper, no not another helicopter. It's an unoriginal thing that incorporates a blade, and you bang on the top of it to chop things. A pretty great idea  for small fingers. I do try and encourage the girls to cook, but this is an easy option thing. So lunch was lovely bread topped with a mix of... chopped cooked chicken, equal amounts of cream cheese and mayo, chopped toms, chopped bell chillis, plenty salt and pep. and then we slice some leftover pesto-d new potatoes on top, bit of green to encourage the small d who is mot a big salad eater. Tastey it was x

What a weekend!!

Well, it has been GLORIOUSLY hot AND sunny, it has felt as though we are on holiday it has been so lovely with the weather this weekend. I will not utter the words, "it's too warm", after the death of so many plants that have been the structure in the garden because of the long white winter. It is a blessing having my tomatoes growing so strongly. Last year they were so slow.
Anyway, I am not mentioning the best part of the weekend....
On friday, I got up at 4AM, got myself together and collected my friend at 5 AM, and we made our way to the airport...

we caught a plane to London and made our way to the V & a for the Quilts 1700-2010 exhibition. It was wonderful. It is a real pleasure to get a glimpse of so many quilts that are not normally on display. We sat on the plane coming home, feet hot and sore, backs in agony but planning a trip to Bath. There is an exhibition on displaying many of the American Museum Quilt collection that are not usually displayed. It's the most wonderful feeling standing gazing at something, someone has made with love 2 maybe 300 years ago!! Sewing patches together like I do, my friends do... I took a moment to stand watching other spectators, people who like me have this fascination for cutting and sewing bits of fabric together.

Weekend birthday fun

Had a lovely night on saturday at a cupcake birthday party. Special number one. I handed over my project of late, which went down very well. That's always nice, when you know someone will like something you've made. There's always the doubt but I was v happy with the finished quilt.
Here it is on the line. That's one of my favourite bits... standing at the kitchen window admiring from afar - and wondering if all the neighbours are drooling in envious slobber.
And then on sunday, we were at a first birthday. It was again an excuse to make the effort and eat what's been put out. Filling the plate up again and again to show appreciation, forcing yourself to eat cream cakes... hard isn't it.
Then today I bought a beautiful coloured clematis to sit next to my lovely shed. I have moved some strawberries into the window box on the shed too.

Still optimistically sunny here..

Well, the sun shone yesterday and we had an industrious day in the garden. First proper time this year. Well, not strictly true, we did clear up a couple of weeks ago. So it was a bit more fun this weekend. The shed FINALLY got painted. Usually I go for the old english green, but this time went for the Wild Thyme. I remember going to the garden of a great uncle  as a kid and everything wooden was in perfect nick and painted deep green. It's that oldy traditional tidyness of a garden I like. Never achieved it!
Then today I whipped up Chocolate Whoopies from "Something for the Weekend" on BBC2 this morning. They were pretty good, really good actually.
A cakey biscuit with squished marshmallows sandwiched between two of them. Really good. We didn't get the 18 recommended because I made them BIG...

Is it tempting fate....

Today was lovely and so "warm" that this evening I walked the dog with my fleecey wrapped around my waist!
Yesterday, it was really quite warm... is it tempting fate?
My tomato plants are not yet in the greenhouse, I am keeping a close eye as they sit on the kitchen windowsill. Is summer on it's way?

This week I have been mainly...

Zipping around in the new Rinky Dink! She's a beauty ain't she just....

She hasn't a name yet, or a theme tune - always like a tune for the car... Our little peugeot died slowly in the end. But went down shouting, well the exhaust was bellowing like a boy racer! I just need to work out how to get along with the bossy woman who speaks to me when I press some buttons... Sat-bitch!
